Uniben Agriculture Excellence Guild Unveils Beneficiaries of Maiden Adegoke Award for Outstanding Scholars

The afternoon sun beat down hard on the Ugbowo campus as the names of the most brilliant minds in the Faculty of Agriculture echoed through the hall, marking a true stamp in the sand of time for the institution. The unveiling of the beneficiaries for the maiden 2024/2025 Agriculture Excellence Award Scheme brought a wave of immense pride to students and staff alike. Months of relentless reading, sleepless nights in the library, and rigorous practicals finally culminated in well deserved public recognition that will forever be remembered in the history of the faculty.

This maiden scholar award stands tall as a massive turning point, changing how academic brilliance is celebrated across departments. For years, students poured everything into their books, often wondering if anyone noticed the silent sacrifices made behind closed doors. This scheme changed that narrative completely, leaving a permanent stamp in the sand of time by showing that hard work does not go unnoticed.

Leading the roll call for the second year category was Confidence Otibhor Omokhodion from the Department of Soil Science and Land Management, who set an incredible pace with a flawless grade point average of 5.00 out of 5.00. Matching that stellar academic perfection in the third year category was Lucy Omeze Enoguese from the Department of Aquaculture and Fisheries Management, also clinching a brilliant 5.00 out of 5.00 grade point average.

The momentum continued into the senior classes as Destiny Oluchi Peter from the Department of Animal Science claimed the top spot for the fourth year category with an impressive grade point average of 4.95 out of 5.00. Finally, the ultimate crown for the Best Graduating Student of the 2024/2025 session went to Daberechi Monica Nweke from the Department of Agricultural Economics and Extension Services, who finished strong with a weighted grade point average of 4.86 out of 5.00. Nweke claimed this prestigious honor under the overall Adegoke Award for Outstanding Scholars, cementing her name permanently in the academic history books.

As cheers erupted from peers and lecturers for these exceptional scholars, the list, duly signed by Professor C. Kalu as Chairman of the Faculty of Agriculture Committee on Scholarships and Awards on May 13th, 2026, solidified a historic moment for the University of Benin Agriculture Excellence Guild. These remarkable achievements proved that dedication truly pays off, leaving the entire faculty inspired and setting a gold standard that will challenge generations of students to come.
