What is the UAEG?
It is an alumni community composed of first-class graduates from the University of Benin's Faculty of Agriculture.
What is its core mission?
The guild is committed to promoting academic excellence, offering structured mentorship, and driving professional growth and innovation for agricultural students.
Who runs the Guild?
The Guild is guided by an Executive Council (Exco) of accomplished first-class alumni across agriculture, research, leadership, public service, and global professional communities, together with a Board of Trustees that provides oversight, continuity, and counsel. Is UAEG a registered/formal association?
Yes. The Guild operates under its Constitution (the "University of Benin Agriculture First Class Scholars' Association"), which is available as a PDF in the Governance section, alongside details of the Executive Committee and Trustees.
Who can become a member of UAEG?
Membership is for only first-class graduates of the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Benin. The Guild engages current students of the Faculty through academic awards and all UNIBEN Agric Alumni through webinars.
Can a student still benefit?
Absolutely. Much of the Guild's work is directed at current students’ academic excellence awards to help encourage academic excellence among UNIBEN Agric students.
What awards does the Guild give?
UAEG recognizes outstanding academic performance through the UNIBEN AGR Academic Excellence Awards. The best students in 200, 300 and 400 levels receive ₦100,000 and a certificate, while the overall best graduating student in 500 level receives ₦200,000 and a certificate. First Class Honours graduates are also inducted into UAEG and may receive mentorship as needed. Where there is a tie based on GPA, the financial award is shared equally among the winners.
What mentorship opportunities does UAEG provide to students and alumni?
UAEG provides mentorship to UAEG members in career guidance, networking, and resume feedback. Mentorship may be delivered through WhatsApp groups or one on one matching with a UAEG member. UAEG also supports alumni interested in international study opportunities through the Study Abroad Cohort, which is open to all University of Benin Faculty of Agriculture alumni. A more focused Study Abroad Mentorship Group currently supports two alumni who attended the Study Abroad Webinar and won a mentorship opportunity. Similar opportunities may be offered through future UAEG programs and webinars but are not guaranteed.
How can individuals or organizations support UAEG financially?
Organizations interested in sponsorship can visit the Sponsor section of the UAEG website for sponsorship information and partnership options. Individuals and organizations may also use the Donate section to make voluntary contributions in support of UAEG programs and initiatives.
How can alumni join the Study Abroad Cohort or request mentorship?
The Study Abroad Cohort is open to all University of Benin Faculty of Agriculture alumni. General UAEG mentorship is available only to UAEG members. Members may request mentorship through the Contact Us form by selecting Request Mentorship, by emailing contact@uaeg.org, or by contacting any Executive Committee member on WhatsApp. From time to time, mentorship opportunities may also be offered to non-members through UAEG webinars, but these opportunities are not guaranteed.
